This unique necklace, is inspired by my facination for ancient Japanese samurai. As far as I know they did not wear jewelry of any sort but if they did it might have been something like this disctinctively male piece.
The silk necklace has been made by using a Japanese form of braid making called Kumihimo that dates back to 550 AD.
Braids such as this one were valued by the samurai for there hard-wearing
yet lightweight qualities and used to bind the sections of Samurai
armor.
The rectangular sterling silver pendant (26mm x34mm) is heavily textured and set with a green Baltic amber cabachon (8mm).
The black silk necklace has silver terminations and hooks to the pendant from any one of the catches on the pendant itself.
